Online Puja

Pujas are chanted prayer ceremonies which show respect and devotion. They create merit (positive karma) for yourself or others. You can join in the prayers and chanting from the sadhana (spiritual text) in either English and/or Tibetan, or simply sit, listen and enjoy the blessings.  Please feel free to make offerings at home (for example incense, fruit, flowers, biscuits) on your the shrine – especially for the Lama Chopa Tsog pujas.

Coming together helps us connect with each other, share positive experiences and increase our virtuous merit / karma.

The online puja are being streamed online via Zoom unless otherwise stated.

Puja can be joined by either computer or smartphone App. When following Zoom links, you are asked to firstly download the zoom application before you join. So make sure you allow a bit of extra time, when joining for the first time.

There are so many inner obstacles to the development of your mind, and these inner obstacles create many outer obstacles. Therefore, for the success of your Dharma practice, of your actualizing the graduated path to enlightenment, you must rely upon a special deity, or buddha, such as Tara. All the actions of the buddhas have manifested in this female aspect of buddha, Tara the Liberator, in order to help living beings to accomplish successfully both temporal and ultimate happiness.

The seven Medicine Buddhas, attainers of bliss, strongly prayed for the temporal and ultimate happiness of yourself and all sentient beings. They vowed that their prayers would be actualized during these degenerate times when the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha are in decline. As the buddhas’ holy speech is irrevocable, you can wholly trust in their power to quickly grant blessings to help all sentient beings in these degenerate times,” Lama Zopa Rinpoche instructs in “The Benefits of Medicine Buddha Mantra and Practice,” a free PDF created by FPMT Education Services. “If you pray to Guru Medicine Buddha, you will quickly accomplish all that you wish. Just hearing the holy name of Guru Medicine Buddha and the sound of his mantra closes the door to rebirth in the suffering lower realms. It is written in the scriptures that you should not have a two-pointed mind (doubt) with regard to these benefits. …

Speaking on the importance of Guru Puja, also known as Lama Chöpa, Lama Zopa Rinpoche recounted the words of the great enlightened being Pabongka Dechen Nyingpo:

“If you are able to do the practice of Guru Puja in your daily life, it contains all the important points of sutra and tantra. It is a complete practice, and it shows the palm [which means the heart] of the instruction of the ear-lineage of Ganden [the Lama Tsongkhapa tradition].”

Offering to the Spiritual Guides

The practice of making offerings to the enlightened beings is viewed as extremely important in the Tibetan Gelugpa Buddhist tradition.  It brings ourselves closer to enlightenment and brings many other benefits, both to oneself individually, the spiritual community and the Dharma Centre.

The Lama Chopa practice is very beautiful and profound – it is a great opportunity to meet and celebrate together as a community.  Lama Zopa Rinpoche strongly recommends we should do this practice regularly so you are warmly invited to attend, chant, listen, meditate and enjoy some blessed food if at a centre or virtually if online !
