Established in 1996, Jamyang Leeds Buddhist Centre provides a place for the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism in the Mahayana tradition following the lineage of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. We are affiliated with The Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition, an international network of Buddhist Centres for practice and study established under the spiritual leadership of Lama Zopa Rinpoche and Lama Thubten Yeshe.
Based in South Leeds, we offer a range of meditation courses from How to Meditate for beginners through to In Depth Meditation Training for intermediate to advanced students. We also have several courses for you to develop your understanding of Buddhism further including Introduction to Buddhism, FPMT Discovering Buddhism and FPMT Basic Programme. We have many Buddhist community practices each week that are great for connecting with other Dharma Practitioners not only in the UK but across the world, such as Morning Prayers, Lunchtime Meditation, Morning Meditation, Medicine Buddha puja, Green Tara puja for world peace, Kshitigarbha puja, Kalachakra practice and Yamantaka practice. We also have at least one retreat each year. As we are a non residential centre we find other beautiful retreat locations to go to where we can meditate and study together.
Beyond being a hub for Buddhist studies and practice, we also serve as a community wellbeing centre in Holbeck, South Leeds. Escape the hustle of daily life and discover a sanctuary that nurtures physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
Visit our relaxed and welcoming vegetarian café, browse our shop with Dharma supplies and books and bargain factory seconds and preloved charity items or just relax and learn in our well-stocked Buddhist library. We have vibrant, open spaces available for meetings and events, and are a welcoming haven for friends and colleagues. Regardless of your background or beliefs, everyone is invited to share our space.
As the home of authentic Buddhist teachings within the Tibetan Gelugpa tradition in the UK, we are part of the international Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT) family and support His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
We are a network of Buddhist Centres, Projects, Study Groups and a Retreat Centre who work together to fulfil the wishes of our Founder Lama Thubten Yeshe and Spiritual Director Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche.
